Salah declares himself fit and ready for world cup

Mohamed Salah says he will be “ready to play against Uruguay”, with the Liverpool forward having shaken off a shoulder injury to go chasing “the Egyptian dream”.

As the 25-year-old made his way from the field in tears during a Champions League final clash with Real Madrid, it appeared as though his World Cup ambitions had been crushed.

Salah has admitted as much, with a now infamous tussle with Blancos skipper Sergio Ramos having left him sweating on a role at Egypt’s first outing on a global stage in 28 years.

Speaking to Egyptian president Abdel Fattah el-Sisi before jetting off to Russia, Salah said: "I promise you I will do my best to be ready for the World Cup and to achieve the Egyptian dream. I feel much better now and I'll be ready to play against Uruguay. I will never give up on our dream, I promise to do my best for our people."

Finally, Buhari to sign 2018 budget on Wednesday

President Muhammadu Buhari will sign the 2018 Appropriation Act into law on Wednesday. The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, confirmed this to our correspondent on the telephone on Monday. “I can confirm to you that the President will sign the budget into law at midday on Wednesday,” the presidential spokesman said. Our correspondent further learnt that the weekly meeting of the Federal Executive Council that normally holds every Wednesday will not hold on that day. The meeting usually holds inside the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja at 11am on Wednesdays. It was not clear as of the time of filing this report if the meeting was put off because of the signing of the budget. Command arrests labourer for defiling five-year-old girl

A labourer, Achibong Koko, has been arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly defiling a five-year-old girl. It was gathered that detectives arrested the suspect on Sunday, June 24, 2018, at his residence on Dansa Street, Abule-Oshun. During a press briefing on Wednesday, the state Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, said a medical test that was conducted on the victim showed her hymen was broken. He said, “Information was received by the Divisional Police Officer, Onireke division, that a five-year-old girl had been defiled. A team of detectives was mobilised to the area, where the suspect, Achibong Koko, was arrested. “According to the mother of the victim, the daughter left her room while she was asleep.
